Akpabio Speaks On Collapsing At His Birthday Colloquium
Senate President Akpabio Denies Collapse and Hospitalization Reports
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has refuted media reports claiming that he slumped and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital. In response to the claims, Akpabio, through his spokesman Eseme Eyiboh, issued a statement on Friday asserting that he neither collapsed nor was taken to a hospital.
Akpabio expressed surprise at the reports, explaining that he had only informed those around him that he was tired, which somehow escalated into rumors of a fainting spell or collapse. He urged the public to disregard the media reports, which he deemed as sponsored by purveyors of fake news.
The statement clarified that Akpabio’s supposed fainting spell occurred after the Colloquium that marked President Bola Tinubu’s 61st birthday, where he spoke for over 30 minutes about his trajectory and legislative agenda for national development.
Akpabio’s office strongly denied the more sensational claims that he is currently hospitalized and in critical condition at the National Hospital in Abuja, emphasizing that such information is entirely untrue.
