All-White Peaceful Protest planned to stop miscreants opposing MOWAA’s opening
Concerned citizens in Benin City have announced plans to stage an All-White Peaceful Protest in defence of the Museum of West African Art (MOWAA) and to resist moves by miscreants trying to stop the official opening of the Museum.
The protest is scheduled for Monday, November 10, 2025, and will commence at 7:00 a.m. from the Secretariat Complex, Palm House, Sapele Road.
According to the organisers, the MOWAA project will bring significant benefits to Edo State by creating jobs, opening up new employment opportunities, boosting small and large-scale businesses, and enhancing the overall economy of the state.
The protest organisers said the museum represents not only a cultural milestone but also a driver of tourism and development.
The protesters explained that the march is also intended to send a strong message to the miscreants being used by the State Government and the ancestors to disrupt or frustrate the museum’s official opening, scheduled for Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
They described such actions as anti-development and contrary to the collective interest of the Edo people.
The organisers disclosed that major international investors and business delegations from Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland and other parts of the world have already begun arriving in the state ahead of the official opening.
They urged participants in the protest to appear in all-white attire as a symbol of peace, unity, and support for the successful launch of MOWAA
