Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, recently announced his decision to retire from active politics due to developing allergies to political activities. Adamu disclosed this during the presentation and launch of a book titled ‘Progressive Governance: Showcasing the Achievements of His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State 2019 – 2023.’
Addressing the audience in Lafia, Adamu, who was also the first civilian governor of Nasarawa State, commended the author, Abdullahi Tanimu, for documenting the achievements of Governor Abdullahi Sule in the book. He acknowledged the governor’s efforts in consolidating and improving on the achievements of his predecessors.
Expressing his shift away from political engagements, Adamu stated, “I am not only a retiree but I am out of politics. I’m beginning to develop little allergies for political activities now and political speeches.” He requested support and prayers for Governor Sule and urged the residents to continue backing the governor and his cabinet for the delivery of democratic dividends.
During the event, Senator Aliyu Wadada praised Governor Sule for attracting notable investors like Dangote, Flour Mill, and Asma Rice to the state. He emphasized that the full operation of these companies would generate employment opportunities and boost the state’s revenue.
Governor Sule, in his remarks, appreciated the author for recognizing his efforts in developing the state and making it attractive to investors. He revealed plans to construct 15 kilometers of road in each of the 13 Local Government Areas and highlighted the government’s commitment to education, having paid the counterpart funds for 2023 to the Universal Basic Education Commission.
The author, Abdullahi Tanimu, shared that he was inspired to write the book by Governor Sule’s leadership style, emphasizing inclusivity. Tanimu, who is physically challenged, conducted extensive research, capturing images and interacting with communities to showcase the governor’s projects across the state.
